1. San Diego Dog Beach
Ocean Beach Dog Beach is the ultimate destination for dogs who love to play in the sand and surf.
Located at the north end of Ocean Beach, this off-leash beach is a pup paradise with plenty of space for running, fetching, and socializing with other four-legged friends.
The water is perfect for cooling off on a hot day or practicing your doggy paddle skills.
Ocean Beach Dog Beach is the original dog beach in San Diego. It’s specifically designed for dogs.
The beach offers doggy poop bags and allows dogs to be off-leash. You can just relax and have fun in the sun with your pup!

2. Fiesta Island
One paw-some spot for dogs in San Diego is Fiesta Island. It’s located in Mission Bay, so the water is calmer than the ocean surf.
It has a long sandy shoreline, perfect for running and playing frisbee or fetch. With no leash needed, dogs can swim or just splash around in the water.
There’s even a great spot on the northeast side called Enchanted Cove where you and your furry family can launch a kayak or a paddleboard.
It’s a laid-back vibe with a great view of SeaWorld’s summer fireworks. Fiesta Island is the perfect spot for dog-friendly San Diego adventures.

3. Boat Ride on Mission Bay
For your more adventurous pups, stay in Mission Bay and check out Eco Boat Rentals with their dog-friendly pedal boats.
Rental includes your’s and your dog’s life jackets, so you don’t need to worry as you cruise along the calm waters of Mission Bay in San Diego. Explore America’s Cup Harbor, Harbor Island, and Liberty Station.
You and your pup have a great chance of seeing birds and sea lions as you cruise by downtown San Diego and explore America’s Cup Harbor, Harbor Island, and Liberty Station.
Food is allowed on board, so pack that cooler with lunch and doggy treats and enjoy!

4. Balboa Park
Balboa Park is full of museums with stunning architecture and beautiful gardens. It’s a must-stop on any weekend trip to San Diego! Some of the museums even have dog-friendly outdoor spaces for you to enjoy.
Dogs can walk on a leash around Balboa Park. Enjoy your stroll among the international cottages or enjoy some of the open grassy areas.
There are even 3 dog parks nearby: Grape Street Dog Park, Morley Field Dog Park, and the off-leash Nate’s Point Dog Park.
Balboa Park is honestly one of my favorite places in San Diego, especially with all of their seasonal and cultural events.

5. Petco Park
Petco Park is the baseball stadium for the San Diego Padres baseball team. It’s an amazing stadium with great food and delicious ice cream.
During certain games throughout the season, Petco Park hosts “Bark at the Park” events where you can bring your furry friend to enjoy America’s favorite pastime.
You and your pup can cheer on the Padres together from designated dog-friendly seating sections.
It’s a unique and fun experience that any dog lover shouldn’t miss. Be sure to have a Randy Jones hot dog for me- play ball!

6. La Jolla
La Jolla is a beautiful beach city that offers plenty of dog-friendly attractions.
Start your day with a walk along the scenic La Jolla Cove where you can see sea lions swimming in the waves.
Walk with your pup on a leash along the sidewalk to some gorgeous seaside views with pelicans swooping through the air. You’ll start to see seals swimming the closer you get to seal beach.
There are plenty of wide-open grass areas to enjoy on your walk before driving down the hill to La Jolla Shores Beach.
You and your dog can walk along the sandy shore or explore the tide pools together.
Don’t forget to snap some Instagram-worthy photos of your pup against the backdrop of beautiful coastal scenery and stop for the popular Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier photo op.
