It’s right in the middle of a drive from the Oregon Coast to Crater Lake National Park, making it a great road trip spot to get out and stretch your legs. And if you have a furry friend with you on the road, don’t worry, there are a lot of dog-friendly things to do in Grants Pass.

Dog-friendly Things to do in Grants Pass
1. Take your dog on a walk at Reinhart Volunteer Park
- Cost: Free
- Hours: 7am – 10pm
- Physical Address: 1690 SW Webster Rd, Grants Pass, OR 97526
Reinheart Volunteer Park, formally known as the all sports park, is a popular place in Grants Pass for people to walk their dogs. With multiple trails, you could get out for a quick walk along the water, or create a nearly 3 mile loop throughout the park.
There are bathrooms, water access points for your pup to cool off, and both paved and non-paved trails to enjoy! Most of the trails are super shaded, making it a great place to go on a hot summer day!
2. Take your dog for a swim in the Rogue River
- Cost: free – $5
- Hours: Daylight hours

The Rogue River is the river running right through the down of Grants Pass. Famed for it’s awesome rafting trips (also dog-friendly) and epic swimming holes, the Rogue River is a great place to take your dog to cool off and enjoy a swim!

3. Let your dog run freely at Greenwood Dog Park
- Cost: free
- Hours: 7am-9pm
- Physical Address: 1200 SW Greenwood Ave, Grants Pass, OR 97526
There are multiple off-leash dog parks scattered throughout Grants Pass. And as you can assume, they’re fenced in areas where dogs are allowed to run off leash. The Greenwood Dog Park is one of the most popular dog parks in the area.
This is a very popular way to get your dog socializing and get extra energy out of your dog without needed to take it on a long run or walk. If you choose to visit an off-leash dog park, be sure that your dog is well trained, neutered or spayed, and gets along well with other dogs.
4. Take Your Dog to Gilbert Creek Off-leash Dog Park
- Cost: free
- Hours: 7am-9pm
- Physical Address: 1750 NW Hawthorne Ave, Grants Pass, OR 97526
The Gilbert Creek Off-leash Dog Park is located on the north end of town, and is the perfect place to let your dog run freely before taking your pup to the Weekend Brewery (listed below) for a pint and grub!
Gilbert Creek has two different sections in their off-leash dog park, one for larger dogs, and a second section for smaller pups. This dog park isn’t as popular as the Greenwood Dog Park, so it’s a better option if you aren’t looking for a crowd!
5. Grab a pint and play games at The Weekend Beer Company
- Cost: Around $6 per pint
- Hours: 12pm-9pm Tuesday-Saturday, 12pm-8pm Sunday and Monday
- Physical Address: 1863 NW Washington Blvd, Grants Pass, OR 97526
The Weekend Beer Company is a popular brewery at the north end of town that is know for its section of games, both indoors and out. The brewery itself carries both it’s own brews, and other local beers and wines from the region.
While the Weekend Beer Company doesn’t serve food, there are multiple food trucks in the fenced area to take you pick from! If you visit in the morning on the second Saturday of every month, you can even get some of Murf’s Marvelous Pancakes and Hand Crafted Syrups (more on them below!)
6. Road trip to the beach

- Hours: daylight hours for most beaches
- Physical Address: Brookings, Oregon
Only two hours away from Grants Pass you’ll find the Oregon Coast. The coast is absolutely beautiful, and with beaches designated for off-leash dogs, it’s a great place to take your furry friend to escape the heat!
With many things to do in Brookings, Oregon, which is the closest Oregon Coastal town to Grants Pass, make an entire day out of a trip there and enjoy the sea breeze and ocean sounds!
Dog-friendly Restaurants in Grants Pass
1. Murf’s Marvelous Pancakes and Hand Crafted Syrups
- Hours: Second Saturday of the month, 8am-12pm

OMG!! This is a drool worthy experience you have to have if visiting Grants Pass on the second Saturday of the month. Murf’s pancakes truly are marvelous, she’s a fantastic human being, and her syrups.. They’re to die for!
Murf has two syrups all the time, Maple Bourbon and Lemon Cheesecake, both being bottled and ready to take as a souvenir. And then every month she creates another specialty syrup themed for that month.
Think flavors like cinnamon roll, chai, pumpkin, boston cream pie, butterfinger.. The list goes on and on, and truly none of them will disappoint.
Murf’s is located in the food truck area of the Weekend Beer Company, and while you’re there, you should grab a coffee from Wheelhouse, and then stay for a beer from the weekend when it opens at noon!
2. Rogue Roasters
- Hours : 7am-3:30pm

Our favorite coffee shop in town! Rogue Roasters has some of the best coffee we’ve ever had. Their black coffee is amazing, and their lattes and other specialty drinks are super unique.
There’s indoor and outdoor seating at Rogue Roasters, and their WIFI is great! It’s a place we always enjoy working at!
3. DAASH Bakery
- Hours : 9am-2pm Monday-Friday 9am-12pm Saturday
- Physical Address: 102 SW 5th St, Grants Pass, OR 97526
DAASH is our favorite breakfast/lunch place in Grants Pass. Their baked goods are phenomenal, and their coffee is great too! We always get their breakfast sandwiches on their homemade bagels, and when we can’t resist, their cinnamon rolls as well.
They have very limited indoor seating, but with a cute outdoor patio area, on a quaint street right in the heart of downtown, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a meal outdoors.
4. G.G. Sugarplum Bake Shop
- Hours: 10:30am-4pm Tuesday – Friday 10:30am-2pm Saturday
- Physical Address: 225 SE 6th St, Grants Pass, OR 97526
While G.G. Sugarplum Bake Shop is typically visited when ordering cakes and baked goods for events, they also have a small selection of baked goods daily.
This bakery is unlike others in the area, because they offer CBD oil infused dog treats for your pups. They allow the dogs in the building, and the reviews on the dog treats are great.
5. The Weekend Beer Company
- Hours: 12pm-9pm Tuesday-Saturday, 12pm-8pm Sunday and Monday
- Physical Address: 1863 NW Washington Blvd, Grants Pass, OR 97526
I know I listed it above as a place to grab a pint with a dog, but I wanted to list it here too for a bit more details! The Weekend Beer Company is an indoor outdoor brewery with covered, heated outdoor seating in the winter and shaded seating in the summer. They also have a huge indoor seating area, all of which is family style, so it’s a great place to make friends.
Aside from grabbing a beer at the Weekend, they also have a handful of food trucks offering things like burgers, tacos, and pizza. And there’s a coffee food truck offering delicious baked goods and unique spins on coffee, run by the sweetest family.

1. La Quinta by Wyndham

This hotel is located right off the main highway, has an indoor pool, and free breakfast. I’ve stayed here a couple of times with friends, and it’s always been great!

2. Riverside Inn

This is a classic Grants Pass stay right on the Rogue River. The Riverside Inn offers waterfront rooms, free breakfast, and a pool!
Staying at the Riverside Inn, you’ll be walking distance to Taprock (a log cabin restaurant on the river) and pretty close to downtown as well.
