The area is also great for eco-tours, snorkeling, and wildlife encounters, which are all educational and fun for the whole family. While Orlando is famed for its theme parks, it also offers some lovely, family-friendly beaches and attractions within a short drive.
Cocoa Beach, about an hour’s drive, is a fantastic option with its gentle surf and wide, sandy shores. The Kennedy Space Center nearby is an added bonus for an educational and exciting family outing. And, a trip to Disney World would add to an extra special spring break (just make sure to plan ahead as it’s of course a very busy time for the theme parks).

Although you could spend your entire spring break in the city itself, I HIGHLY recommend exploring outside the city and visiting The Valley of Fire State Park and/or booking a kayaking trip to the famous Emerald Cave.

15. Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

For those seeking a nature-filled spring break, Rocky Mountain National Park is a breathtaking choice (and just 2 hours from Denver). The park offers stunning hiking trails – Bear Lake Trailhead is a popular start point for many scenic routes.
For a unique stay, consider the Stanley Hotel in nearby Estes Park, known for its majestic mountain views. Be sure to stop by the Trailhead Restaurant for hearty meals after a day of exploring. Evenings can be spent stargazing, as the park’s high elevation offers clear, star-filled skies.
16. Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park to witness the Kilauea volcano, and don’t miss the opportunity to see the glowing lava at night. Truly a once in a lifetime experience.
For dining, Huggo’s in Kailua-Kona offers fresh seafood with ocean views. Snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay is a must-do for marine life enthusiasts, or if you are feeling up to it try night snorkeling with the giant Manta Rays.
And for a bit of relaxation, the black sand beaches like Punalu’u or the crystal-clear waters on Kona are perfect for sunbathing and picnics.

I recommend staying in Fredericksburg as your home base. It’s a quaint town in the heart of Hill Country where you can enjoy authentic German cuisine and a charming Main Street. Wine enthusiasts will love the area’s numerous vineyards, offering tastings and tours.
During your getaway be sure to explore the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, famous for its massive pink granite dome and the nearby swimming holes.
