How do I get to Page?
The closest (and best) airport to fly into to get to Page is the airport in Flagstaff. It’s only a 2 hour drive away making it a good option if you can find decent flights.
If you can’t find any reasonable flights to Flagstaff, the Las Vegas airport is 4.5 hours away.
Renting a car is necessary when visiting Page as there aren’t any good options for public transportation. I recommended using the DiscoverCars search engine to find the best deals on rental cars in the area!
What is the best time to visit Page?
The best time to visit Page is in either the spring or fall. It can get really hot in Page in the summer so we wouldn’t recommend visiting then.
You can expect temperatures to be around the mid 70s-80s depending on what month you visit in the spring or fall. Because the spring and fall have nice weather, these are also the peak months to visit Page (so be prepared to be sharing the trails and sights).
Another option for visiting Page is to go in the winter. Temperatures are around the mid 40s-50s so it isn’t brutally cold and there are barely any crowds!
Where should I stay in Page?
Page is a small town, so there aren’t any specific areas that are better than others. All of the hotels are essentially in one area, except for Airbnb’s/VRBO’s that you can find a little bit outside of town or sprinkled throughout the town.

Sample 3-Day Page Weekend Itinerary
Day 1 in Page, AZ
Morning:
Rise and shine and get prepared for your first Antelope Canyon slot canyon experience! But before you head to your slot canyon reservation, stop at the delicious Hot n Sweet Coffee and Donut Shop.
This place has the most delicious donuts and coffee in all of Page, so fuel up for the day here on donuts (you are on vacation after all!)
Afternoon:
Visiting Antelope Canyon is one of the best things to do in Page so there’s no point in waiting further into your weekend to see it.
There are a ton of different sections of Antelope Canyon to check out, so in this itinerary we’ve included one of the most popular sections and one of the lesser known sections.
That way you can have two different experiences of visiting Antelope Canyon, one that is amazing but arguably has a few more crowds, and one that is almost as amazing with fewer crowds!
First up is the gorgeous Antelope Canyon X– the lesser known part of Antelope Canyon. This slot canyon is best visited mid-day for optimal lighting.
The canyon has tall walls, so you’re going to want to plan your guided tour to start at 11- 11:30 so the sun is directly overhead while you’re in the canyon.
Book your Antelope Canyon X tours here!
Evening:
After exploring Antelope Canyon X, it’s time to lace up your hiking boots and hit the trail for a late afternoon hike to “The New Wave.”
If you’ve ever heard of The Wave, this hike features a similar (but not nearly as impressive) rock formation as the nearby Wave. BUT, it does not require a permit (andddd The actual Wave permit tickets are HARD TO GET!) So, it’s a great alternative.
This hike is a 1.4 mile loop and if you’re looking for the wave-like rock swirls, you’ll need some trail finding skills and a sense of adventure.
After your afternoon hike, head to The Birdhouse for dinner and grab some delicious fried chicken.
Day 2 in Page, AZ
Morning:
Day 2 starts out with a visit to the Lake Powell Visitor Center also known as Carl Hayden Visitor Center. This visitor center is totally worth spending an hour or two learning about the Glen Canyon Dam as well as Lake Powell and the nearby area.
Afternoon:
It’s now time for the star of the show, visiting the more popular Lower Antelope Canyon. You might be wondering why we didn’t include Upper Antelope Canyon on this itinerary.
There are a ton of incredible Antelope Canyon tours to choose from, but the tour of Lower Antelope Canyon is a much more enjoyable experience than the tour of Upper Antelope Canyon.
Lower Antelope Canyon is also a lot longer than Upper, so you’ll have more time to enjoy this natural phenomenon and you won’t be as rushed.
Visiting Lower Antelope Canyon around mid-afternoon on a sunny day is the best time to see the canyon.

Evening:
After enjoying your tour of Lower Antelope Canyon head into town to hang at Grand Canyon Brewery and Distillery. This restaurant is huge and has a ton of seating as well as a really nice patio to enjoy a drink or two on.
Day 3 in Page, AZ
Morning:
On your last day it’s time to wake up early and head to see another iconic site in the Page area, Horseshoe Bend.
The hike to the overview of Horseshoe Bend is a short 1.5 mile round trip hike, but it can get brutally hot so it’s best to visit early in the morning. There isn’t any shade so be prepared with a hat and sun protection.
Afternoon:
After visiting Horseshoe Bend you can choose to either drive north and go on a scenic drive with Lake Powell as your backdrop or you can head southwest and visit Marble Canyon.
Either make for a great day trip, stopping off along the way to see incredible overlooks or go on a few short hikes. Make sure to pack a lunch as there are no options for restaurants along the way.
Evening:
For your last evening in Page, head to Big John Texas BBQ for some delicious BBQ and a show. This restaurant has outdoor, communal seating and a band playing every night of the week.
Other things to do in Page:
- Kayak to Antelope Canyon: if you want to see Antelope Canyon in the most unique way possible, rent a kayak and head across Lake Powell to the spot where Antelope Canyon empties into Lake Powell. Park your kayak and then hike as far as you want to experience a different view of the canyon.
- Tour Upper Antelope Canyon: The most famous (and most crowded) section of Antelope Canyon. Tours are pretty pricey, but the canyon is absolutely gorgeous. Try and time your visit for a no cloud in the sky day and visit right at midday to try and see the famous light beams.
- Visit another slot canyon: There are a ton of other slot canyons in this area. All of the slot canyons are located on private, Navajo land, so the only way to visit them is with a tour guide. If you’re looking for a unique and challenging adventure, check out Cardiac Canyon. This canyon requires a 2.5 mile hike and a 7 mile off-road transport to the start of the canyon.
Where (else) to Eat in Page:
- Jádí´Tooh Restaurant: Jádí´Tooh Restaurant is the largest floating restaurant in the United States and is located at Antelope Point Marina. Just getting to the restaurant is an experience has you have to take a golf cart ride down to the lake’s shore.
- Sunset 89: Sunset 89 is a newer restaurant located near Horseshoe Bend and offers incredible sunset views out on their patio.
Other Tips to know before visiting Page:
- Make your Antelope Canyon reservations in advance. They can get booked up months in advance so make sure you secure your reservations.
- Horseshoe Bend can be quite crowded and there are no fences stopping you from falling off the cliff edge, so be patient and careful when taking photos.
- Antelope Canyon and the area surrounding Page is owned by the Navajo people. The slot canyons are sacred to the Navajo so it’s extremely important to follow the rules and respect the culture when visiting these special places.
- Lake Powell is huge and the water is the lowest it’s ever been before. To get to the lakes shore you have to either have a 4×4 vehicle that can drive through sand or walk 1+ miles to reach the water. It can get very hot in this area of the country so be prepared with sun protection, lots of water, and know your limits.
- There isn’t any cell service once you’re outside of the town of Page, so download maps and know where you’re going before leaving town.
