Complete Cabin Packing List For Your Next Weekend Getaway

1. Fleece-lined Waterproof Pants

Cabin getaways usually mean snow, slush, or chilly morning walks, and fleece-lined waterproof pants are the answer to it all. They’re comfy enough to wear lounging around but tough enough to keep you warm and dry when you head outside.

2. A-Frame Cabin Lego Set

Sometimes you just need a little screen-free fun. An A-frame cabin LEGO set is the perfect rainy (or snowy) day activity. Plus, building a mini cabin while staying in a real one just feels right.

Obviously not an essential, but how fun would this be to lock yourself into a cabin and build this?!

3. Fleece Sherpa

A fleece sherpa is basically a wearable blanket…soft, warm, and cozy enough that you’ll never want to take it off (I live in mine all winter). Toss it on for your morning coffee on the porch or while winding down by the fire.

4. Fuzzy Socks

Slipping into a pair of fuzzy socks after a day outside is pure cabin magic. Pack a couple of pairs as you’ll be living in them all weekend long.

5. Rechargeable Hand-Warmers

Perfect for hikes, sledding, or even just sipping cocoa by the firepit, rechargeable hand warmers are a small item that make a big difference. Bonus: no more wasteful single-use packets.

6. Heated Vest

If you’re planning to spend time outdoors, a heated vest (or jacket) is a total game-changer. I tried one for the first time last year when I was back home in Wisconsin, and I’m obsessed. They are ideal for exploring trails or stargazing on crisp nights.

7. Travel Down Blanket

A cozy down blanket that packs down small is a must for cabins. It’s lightweight enough to bring along on adventures but warm enough to curl up with when the temps drop.

8. Beanie

A simple beanie is the unsung hero of cabin trips (literally… I live in mine). It keeps the heat in, saves you from doing your hair (curly hair win), and instantly makes everything feel a little cozier.

9. Kindle

Cabin time = reading time. With a Kindle, you can pack an entire library without sacrificing suitcase space. Perfect for lazy mornings and quiet nights by the fire. I never get to read enough when I’m home, so I look forward to vacation reading every.single.time.

10. Battery Pack

Between your phone, Kindle, and rechargeable gear, a battery pack is a lifesaver, especially if your cabin is off-grid or outlets are limited.

11. Travel Cribbage Board

Nothing says cabin life quite like a good board game. A travel cribbage board is small, easy to pack, and guaranteed to spark some friendly competition after dinner. Cozy cabin weekends are the only time I can convince my husband to play a game of cribbage (it’s his least favorite board game LOL).

11. Travel Flashlight and Lantern Combo

Cabins can get really dark, especially if you’re venturing outside at night. A flashlight/lantern combo is perfect for both safety and setting that cozy glow indoors. Pack a few extra batteries just in case.
