Where are the Tiki Suites Located?

Wellll technically…the Tiki Suites are located in the middle of the ocean. After road tripping down the Florida Keys, you will end up in the southernmost point of the continental US, Key West. From here you will find the Tiki Suites.

How do you get to the Tiki house?

After booking your Tiki Suite you will get detailed instructions to book your transportation. In short, you book with a third-party shuttle boat. We arrived at the marina (and left our car right there) and a small boat pulled up to the dock to bring us to the house. It was about a 15-minute ride out.

What do I need to know before traveling?

  • There is no microwave or any sort of kitchen, you will need to bring a cooler with picnic-type foods.
  • It is a splurge, but when comparing it to other hotels in Key West, it is not that much more expensive (and definitely a cooler experience)
  • You do need to get your boaters license before staying at Tiki Suites. The host will send you instructions, but it is a quick online course.
  • Make sure to book your boat shuttle in advance, it is not included in the stay.
  • Expect to take quick showers. There is a generator and hot water, but it is very limited.

What should I bring?

  • Picnic-type food
  • Cooler and ice
  • Motion-sickness medicine (just in case…we didn’t need any).
  • Sunscreen
  • Swimsuit
  • Your basic essentials
  • Water Bottles

Tiki Suite Details and Amenities

Tiki Suites Details and amenities- four pictures showing the outside, inside, food brought, and bathroom.

There are two suites to choose from with slight differences. Both suites come with all the bedding, towels, paddleboards, snorkel gear, a hammock, toilet paper, a generator, running water, wifi, an extra cooler (no ice), AC/heat, coffee-maker, and of course amazing views. The Grand Tiki (slightly more expensive) has a TV, mini-fridge, and underwater LED lights. We stayed at the Original Tiki and it had EVERYTHING we could have needed. The underwater lights are probably really cool though!

Personal Reaction of Tiki Suites in Key West

If I were rich, I would have stayed at Tiki Suites in Key West for MUCH LONGER. Unfortunately, my teacher salary says no to that, BUT it was such an amazing experience.

Before visiting I worried about if I were going to get seasick? What if I forget something? Will we be bored? Is it dangerous?

And honestly, all my questions and slight fears (I worry about everything) were gone as soon as we stepped aboard. It was such a relaxing experience to be able to lay in bed or on the hammock and just listen to the waves. I LOVED not having anywhere to be or stressing that I should be doing something else.

I did not get seasick at all, I felt prepared with everything that I brought, and we definitely were not bored. We were slightly scared that we were going to get stung by an ocean creature though. But the host leaves emergency contact numbers inside 🙂
