Any other sentimental travelers out there?! As much as I would love to take home a piece of every place I visit, I know that my 800 square foot apartment cannot handle all the souvenirs. In an effort to still remember all the epic places and take the memories with me, I have started quite a few collections that take up less space. SO in addition to all the pictures, here are 7 different creative ways to track your travels!
Shameless plug: The first two items I personally create and sell. I have put a lot of work into them and want to make sure they are exactly what you are looking for. Feel free to direct message me on Instagram with any questions about them or additional requests!

7 Creative Ways to Track your Travels
Push Pin Travel Map
A simple way to track your travels and a great conversation piece! Simply stick a push-pin in all the states (or cities) that you have visited. It is small enough to sit on the end table or your desk, yet big enough to add United States travel flare to any room. Your guests will surely ask about stories that stem from the pins.
This push pin travel map is also completely customizable. You can choose your heading quote AND your name(s) and date on the bottom! It comes with a matching wood easel stand, pins, and a wooden pin box.
Keychain with Travel Tokens
Okay, this one is my favorite! How cool to have a FULLY PERSONALIZED keychain and token collection?! You can choose the quote on the front of the keychain and add your initials to the back. After designing the keychain, it’s time to start collecting travel tokens. Choose the location, hike, state, etc for the front and add the date visited on the back. You can track the states you have visited, the trails you have hiked, the bodies of water you have swum in…the options are really endless.
Attach the keychain to your purse, backpack, or keys, and bring the travel memories everywhere you go!
p.s. If you purchase either the pushpin map or this keychain, dm me on Instagram and I will send you any digital file from my Etsy shop for free! 🙂
Travel Journal
Are you looking for something that captures more details from your travels? A travel journal is perfect! Bring it along OR leave it at home to reminisce after the fun has ended.
You can purchase digital travel journals or printed ones! With so many options out there, you will definitely find one that meets your travel tracking needs!
Scrapbook
Scrapbooking is one of the very best ways to track your travels in a sentimental and creative way. Save those ticket stubs, National park brochures, and parking passes and arrange them throughout your scrapbook pages with all those pictures. I PROMISE this is a great way to bring back all the emotions from the trip. ALSO, it is so fun to look back at all these pages for years to come!
Photo Map
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my photo map. I can look at it each and every day and remember all those great memories. I will say it’s a bit harder to keep up with because you have to order the state-sized photos from the specific website…so if you are a procrastinator like me you can get a bit behind.
There are several different maps to choose from. I have the 1DEA.me Brand. The website is easy to use and order photos from, the map is high quality, you can choose the background color, and it comes with double-sided stickers for easy placing of the photos.
Travel Blog
When I originally started this travel blog, I thought it would be a GREAT way to track my travels. A perfect place to store my favorite photos, and a place to look back at the memories. It now has turned into even more, BUT you can easily start a travel blog as a hobby.
If you are looking to start a travel blog as a way to track your travels or as an online journal, there are several free options to use. You can easily create a free website with WIX or Weebly. If you want to use your travel blog as more of a business, then you should definitely use Bluehost (or another self-hosting platform). This way you own everything that is on your blog, you can monetize with ads and other methods.
I won’t get into how to start a travel blog here as that is a whole post on its own. BUT, you can start my buying your domain and hosting (click below), then looking up ALL THE Youtube videos next.
Until I have a detailed “How to Start a Blog” post up, Feel free to message me on Instagram with any questions!
Scratch-off Map
Another fun way (and easier than a photo map) is a scratch-off map! There are SO many scratch-off maps to choose from to track your travels to fit everyone’s taste. Some are shaped like the United States, others can track world travels. Others are great for bucket list items such as national parks or museums to visit.
Do you have any other fun and creative ways to track your travels? I’d love to hear what you do! Come share it in my private Facebook group OR grab your FREE TRAVEL PLANNER to get on my newsletter list!
